This is a the second Gold Medal this year for Sansanee! She also won Gold at the RHS Botanical Art Show in London in February 2016. Unfortunately Sansanee is in Thailand at the moment and was unable to attend the exhibition and her work was hung by her partner who lives in Lothian. Sarah Roberts has been working on a project she is very committed to but hopefully will be visiting the showground later today and will find out she has won a Gold Medal! Silver Gilt Medals
Morna is a graduate of the Diploma Course in Botanical Illustration run by the Royal Botanic Garden in Edinburgh. Margaret Walty won a Gold Medal at the January 2007 RHS Show and a Silver Gilt Medal at the RHS Botanical Art Show in 2015. Silver Medal

It will then remain on display until 24th June.
So lots of time still to see these exhibits - and buy some artwork! This is about the medal winners from the 4th Annual Botanical & Floral Art Exhibition opens at Bloom in the Park. The exhibition had a very busy first day on Thursday with numbers visiting the Garden Festival up by 4000 on the first day alone! This resulted in good sales and over 25% of the paintings were sold on the first night! The exhibition was opened on Thursday 2nd June and medals presented by Seamus O'Brien, head gardener (and plant hunter) of Kilmacurragh Botanic Gardens who has been enormously supportive of the development of botanical art in Ireland. He can be seen below with Yanny Petters who helped organise the exhibition. Links in the names of the medal winners below are to their websites. Where there is no link there is no website. The link is only included in the first mention of the name of the artist. Botanical Art Medal Winners 2016Best in Show

The 4th Annual Botanical & Floral Art Exhibition opens at Bloom in the Park today (Thursday 2nd June 2016). The exhibition includes 56 botanical artworks in watercolour, gouache, ink, drawing or fine art print by artists from all over Ireland. The exhibition was hung in The Gallery at the Phoenix Park Visitors Centre by Yanny Petters, Holly Somerville, Lynn Stringer and Siobhan Larkin on Monday.
Awards and medals for the artwork will be announced later today following the judging. I'll be doing a blog post later this week about who won the awards and this will include photos of what the exhibition looks like. (These were the award winners in 2015 - pdf file) All artwork is for sale and you also get to meet and talk with some of the artists - and maybe buy a beautiful painting for your home or office! Note about Bloom in the Park Bloom in the Park is based on the success of similar successful formats such as the RHS Chelsea Flower Shows and RHS Hampton Court Palace shows. It is sponsored by Bord Bia - the Irish government agency charged with the promotion, trade development and marketing of the Irish food, drink and horticulture industry. Find out who are the artists selected to exhibit at the international competition held by Botanical Images Scotia (BISCOT) in conjunction with the Royal Caledonian Horticultural Society (RCHS) and the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE). How to see the BISCOT Exhibition 2016You can see the exhibition this week at the Gardening Scotland Show, at the Royal Highland Showground at Ingliston between 10am and 5pm on Friday 3rd until Saturday 5th June 2016. Thursday 2nd June is hanging day. It looks from the Show Maps as if the Botanical Art will be exhibited in the Floral Hall. Next week, the exhibition will transfer to the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, John Hope Gateway Building, for a period of about three weeks (8th June - 24th June).
